Laura Linney's portrayal of vulnerable and yet powerful characters has earned her the title of one of the top American actors. Born to a famous playwright's father but was raised by a single mom, who earned her living as a nurse, she began to take an interest in theater while having summers spent with her father, eventually studying acting, initially in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. In just two short years after graduation the actress began her Broadway career. In the following year, she made her debut on the world of film and television. She has appeared on numerous shows on stage, television and film productions since then. In her long professional career, she's received many awards, which include 2 Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. However, despite all the accolades, her love for the theatre isn't gone, and she continues to perform both onscreen and onstage.
