Jennifer Garner was born on April 17, 1972, at Houston, Texas but was raised to be raised in Charleston, West Virginia. William John Garner was her father and a chemical engineering company called Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother was a professor at a nearby university. To follow her father, she earned an engineering degree in chemical science. She moved into New York in order to pursue her dream of becoming an actor. Her first leading role came in the critically acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going on thirty." Garner played a teenage girl trapped in a 30 year old body. Garner picked Gary Winick to direct the film, and they kept looking for new projects until Winick's death in 2011. in 2009 Garner has been named as an artist ambassador by Save the Children U.S.A. This role entails promoting nutritional literacy, education and early childhood education. Garner is on the board of trustees since 2014. Garner promotes early childhood education. Being a part of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) program's ambassador team Garner has visited families on a regular basis to coach them on ways to encourage their young children to succeed.
